The Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at UC Riverside proudly announces that Amanda Rupiper, Assistant Professor of Teaching, has been honored with the Innovation Teaching Award for her outstanding contributions to engineering education.

Dr. Rupiper, who earned her Ph.D. from UC Davis, has demonstrated exceptional leadership in both research and pedagogy. Her work includes modeling water system operations to reduce energy consumption, developing state-level tools to track water loss, and guiding student teams to national recognition in environmental engineering design competitions.

Currently, Dr. Rupiper is advancing projects that integrate sustainability and engineering education, including the development of novel biochar-based technologies for ammonia air pollution control, modeling the environmental impacts of emerging contaminants, and studying how students make multi-criteria decisions in engineering and sustainability contexts. With support from the Hellman Fellowship, she plans to expand her applied research at the intersection of environmental sustainability and engineering education.

Congratulations to Dr. Rupiper on this well-deserved recognition of her innovative teaching and impactful research.
